Annotation The module ‘Manufacturing Planning and Control’ considers manufacturing planning and control (MPC) systems technologies and components, i.e. demand management, production planning and scheduling, capacity planning and recourse management, production activity control. The module also reviews and analyzes material requirements planning (MRP) and manufacturing resource planning (MRPII) systems, finite capacity planning (FCP) and advanced production scheduling (APS) systems, enterprise resource planning (ERP) and Just-in-time/Kanban manufacturing planning and control systems. The main aspects of the design and implementation of MPC systems are considered. Students get experience in using production planning and scheduling techniques to solve practical problems as well as learn to work with advanced production planning and scheduling software and business integrated information system for small- and medium-sized enterprises..

Having completed the module, a student will: have a basic knowledge in Manufacturing Planning and Control (MPC) Systems; understand basic production planning and control techniques for manufacturing systems; realize the potential benefits of production planning and control technology in modern manufacturing application systems; get practical experience via production planning and control game and be able to use MPC system for SMEs

Is able to interpret and use production planning and control techniques to solve practical problems - Demonstrated ability to use production planning and control techniques to solve practical planning problems in the simulation-based planning game (group project)
Is able to use an advanced finite capacity planning and production scheduling techniques and software - Demonstrated ability to use these techniques and software, working with APC Preactor.
Is able to interpret and use the main functional modules in an integrated MPC system - Demonstrated ability to complete planning and control tasks working with DBA Manufacturing system
