The study course „Metrology” will explain diffirent measurement methods and equipment, which are used to carry out monitoring in the field of energy and environmental protection. In this study course there are various laboratory works included, in which students have to assess, analyze and present results of made measurement. Part of this course is dedicated to legal metrology and standartization..

|The aim of the course is to provide basic knowledge concerning physical-technical measurement of: • Temperature • Flow rates • Meteorological quantities • Flue gas concentrations • Electricity consumption This course focuses on the description and working principles of the methods, instruments and sensors. The course covers as well as data analysis and estimation of measurement uncertainty and error. Particular section of the course is dedicated at covering the basic aspects of legal metro|
Is able to understand important parameters in metrology, e.g., sensitivity error, measurement range, precision, accuracy, resolution, offset, linearity, hysteresis and response time - Ways of verification: laboratory works. Criteria: Depending on the task, ability to select best measurement method and equipment.
Is able to carry out and install simple data collection systems for monitoring projects in the field of environmental and energy engineering. - Ways of verification: laboratory works. Criteria: Ability to operate measurement data collecting systems.
Is able to process and assess the quality of measured data in the field of environmental and energy engineering. - Ways of verification: laboratory works, exam. Criteria: Ability to gather, classify, select measurement data and assess their representativeness.
Student has basic knowledge of legal metrology, in particular addressed to metering of electricity, heat, gas and water. - Ways of verification: laboratory works, exam. Criteria: ability to navigate in consumption accounting systems, to choose the best consumption accounting system depending on the task.
|Course prerequisites||English knowledge at least at B1 level. Basic knowledge in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Electrotechnics.|
