The course is designed for Spanish as a second foreign language. The study continues a more detailed study of the subject commenced in the elementary Spanish language course. Students study input materials, perform various communicative tasks and exercises, analyze personal performance working in the class and independently. Students perform oral and written tasks and answer different questions. They work both individually and in small groups..

|The main aim of the course is perfection and practical application of the Spanish language grammar and vocabulary. The objectives of the course: 1) To acquire vocabulary in different areas of social life, business and engineering; 2) To develop communicative skills and different ways of extracting information; 3) To master listening, reading and writing skills in Spanish.|
Students are able to read, analyze and summarize independently intermediate professional authentic texts and translate them into their mother tongue. - Assessment: home tasks, texts, exam (text 2,500 pr. signs, 5-8 problem solving tasks, 30 min ). Students are able to interpret and comment on audio/video information in general and in detail, are able to discuss the information. - Assessment: texts, interviews, exam (audio record 5 min, 8-10 tasks, 15 min). Free choice - final test. Evaluation: tested/not tested.
Students are able to identify general and professional vocabulary and use it in oral and written speech. - Assessment: texts, tests, exam, portfolio – glossary (150 words a semester).
