The course will provide for the students an overview of the most important aspects of network security. The students will be introduced to cyber crime and the most important attacks that the industry experiences today, including the motivations and techniques behind. With this understanding in place, the course will introduce basic tools and methods for monitoring of network traffic, as well as tools and methods for subsequent analysis. This will include both theoretical background, and some practical examples of malicious traffic. Based on this, the students will be also introduced to approaches to and methods for detecting and preventing network-based attacks, and penetration testing tools
