The study course embraces acquisition of theoretical principles and practical skills in quality management. After familiarization themselves with the quality management philosophy the students are continuing to explore cases on practical implementation of quality management systems in different production and service organizations and governmental institutions..

|The main goal and objectives of the study course – to provide students with the basic knowledge on quality management principles, systems, methods and their application in different production and service enterprises, non-governmental, governmental and public organizations and to develop comprehension and basic skills and competences in implementation of Total Quality Culture in the Latvian and international Single European Market environment. The students will acquire knowledge on utilization of skills and competences in four main directions: orientation towards customer satisfaction, continuous improvement, involvement of everybody in improvement process and life-long learning.|
The student comprehends quality terminology. Understands TQM, process management and quality improvement principles and methodologies. Comprehends SixSigma, Lean and benchmarking methodologies. - Six tests of understanding – weighted average assessment of multiple choice answers on test questions. A component of an exam.
Can perform client satisfaction assessment, is able to implement TQM methodology, principles of leadership and strategic planning into the organizatation. - Case analysis individual reports plus discussion in the workgroups and group presentations in the class assessed according to 10-point grading scale. A component of an exam.
Can perform evaluation of process parameter characteristics, can determine the type of process variation causes and identify their sources. Is able to elaborate recommendations on quality improvement measures. - Practical solution of tasks assessed according to 10-point grading scale. A component of an exam.
Can perform individually and by group-work a real-life case analysis related to non-conforming quality level problem, is able to identify causes of the problem and to suggest possible improvement scenarios. - Written group report plus presentation and discussion among groups, peer review. A component of an exam.
Can perform self-assessment of an organization according to criteria of EFQM Business Excellence model and is able to present the results of self-assessment analysis results, ti identify the areas for improvement. Can justify and support his/her view on the findings of analysis. - Assessment of the individual self-assesment report for the selected organization assessed according to 10-point grading scale. A component of an exam.
