Annotation The course gives an overview of technologies providing saving of energy and some practical examples in power supply. The topics considered in the course are energy transmission and distribution, electrical drives are given in particular - optimal selection of electric motor power and application of frequency-regulated electric drives; modern technologies applied in lighting, application of supercapasitors. EU Directives on energy efficiency, the use of energy and Energy performance of buildings directive, the main concept and application areas as well as benefits from using those concepts are considered in the course..

To demonstrate to the students the opportunities of modern technologies and approaches to their assembly and control in the saving of energy. To provide particular examples and calculations of energy effective technologies.
Learning outcomes
and assessment
To be able evaluate analytically and numerically effectiveness of a technology from the energy effectiveness point of view and give a comparative analysis evaluating also another similar technologies. - Students hand in a detailed description and analytical report of a selected technology
