To provide basic knowledge of medicinal chemistry: understanding of drug compound-receptor interaction, absorption of drug compounds, biological membranes, transport of active drugs, elimination of drugs from organism, basics of molecular graphics in drug design and general principles of drug design, drug metabolism and ways of biotransformation.
Learning outcomes
and assessment
Comprehension of general principles of drug design, understanding of structure-activity relationships of compounds, ability to predict action mechanism of potential drug compound; proficiency to judge transport of drug compounds, their metabolism and elimination from the organism. - Knowledge and understanding of drug compound-receptor interaction, biological membranes, absorption, transport and elimination of drugs from organism should be demonstrated during exam; student has to know basics of molecular graphics, general principles of drug design, drug metabolism.
